I have relaxed hair and had read about steamers on some hair care blogs. I had never used or owned a steamer before so I didn't know what to expect. The steamer works perfectly. It has become a part of my weekly hair care regimen. I haven't used my hooded dryer for conditioning and hot oil treatments ever since I got this steamer 3 months ago. My hair is so much healthier. It's not dry all the time like before and I was able to go 10 weeks in between relaxer touch-ups. I have NEVER been able to go more than 6-8 weeks before. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because the directions were a little vague. Other than that I have no complaints.

Disappointing after 2 uses less than 30 days old but outstanding customer service & new machine works great, March 10, 2012 Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Hair Steamer Beauty Salon Equipment Color Processing (Misc.) I purchased this steamer 2/20/12 because this is the only steamer that wasn't a table top steamer that had gotten an average of 4 stars within my price range. I prefer a portable steamer that is adjustable versus a steamer that I have to find the right table and chair for plus adding books for height so that my daughter can use it AND pay 100 bucks for anyway. Well after the 1st couple of uses I thought it was great but I tried to use it today for a 3rd time and it smelled as if the unit was on fire! I unplugged the unit drained the water and saw this black material floating in the water. I drained the machine after the last 2 uses because for me I cannot fill the unit with more than 3/4 cup of water or it will start to drip from the bottom holes of the actual unit attached to the pole and the instructions do not indicate how much water to use so I started with 1/2 c and worked my way up. I've had this hair steamer for a few weeks now and I really like it, I've only used it twice...I have natural hair that's curly(3c) and short(growing it out). My hair is coarse and tends to get very dry and I've already noticed great moisture retention with using this steamer. I usually steam for 45-60 minutes while my hairs damp and has deep conditioner in it, or oil. My only concern with this steamer is there's a metal silver bar inside the plastic dome head part..running along the the inner edge (where your head goes I litterely burned my finger on it when I reached to adjust the back of my hair & accidently touched this metal silver bar! this silver metal bar gets very very hot. Im afraid that if my hair touches this bar its going to burn it like it does my fingers if I touch it while Im using it. I wish it came without that, dont really know why it has to be inside there...does anyone else know what im talking about? or know how to avoid it so my hair won't burn if it... Read more
